The discovery

We fell in love
with the most
extraordinary wax
on earth.

Most people who love candles have never burned a pure beeswax candle. We hadn't either — until the day we did, and everything changed. The light is different. The scent is different. The feeling of burning something with a single, pure ingredient that comes straight from nature is different. We couldn't stop. So we started making them.

"We discovered beeswax the way you discover something you didn't know you'd been missing — and immediately wondered how we'd burned anything else."

I
One ingredient
Beeswax. That is the entire ingredient list. No additives, no processing agents, no synthetic fragrance, no bleach. One substance, exactly as nature made it. No other candle wax can make that claim.
II
Straight from the hive
Every other candle wax is processed before it can burn — hydrogenated, bleached, deodorised, blended. Beeswax leaves the hive already pure. We filter it. We shape it. That is all.
III
Ancient. Proven. Unchanged.
The pure light that has lit cathedrals and palaces for more than 3,000 years. Egyptian temples. Medieval churches. Royal courts. Nothing has ever replaced it — because nothing has ever bettered it.
IV
Burns longer and cleaner
Beeswax is the densest candle wax available. It burns at a higher temperature, lasts significantly longer than soy or paraffin at equivalent size, and produces a brighter, steadier flame with minimal soot.
V
The natural honey scent
Unlit, pure beeswax carries a faint, natural honey scent — not from added fragrance, but from the wax itself. The warmth of the hive, held in the wax. It is one of the quietest and most beautiful things about this material.
VI
Made by bees. Perfected by nature.
A single female bee produces approximately one eighth of a teaspoon of wax in her entire lifetime. Every candle represents the life's work of thousands of bees. That is not a fact we take lightly — it is why we give 10% of every profit back to bee conservation.

The making

We found something
we couldn't
stop doing.

"Most people spend their working lives looking for something they genuinely love. We were lucky. Bettina found it in beeswax — and we built everything else around that."

Our studio in Balgowlah is not a factory. It is the place where Bettina has hand-dipped, hand-rolled, and hand-poured every single candle we have ever sold. The process is slow by design. Each candle is unique. Each one carries the evidence of the hands that made it — and the love of someone who genuinely cannot imagine doing anything else.

01
The dipping
Hand-dipped tapers are built layer by layer — each pass through the wax adding another coat, another fraction of a millimetre. Bettina has dipped so many candles she can read the wax by sound. The rhythm, the timing, the angle of the dip — it becomes instinct. A flow state you cannot rush or fake.
02
The rolling
A sheet of pure beeswax honeycomb, warmed gently until it is just pliable, then rolled with precision around a wick. Every millimetre must be exactly placed. We have an unofficial competition in the studio — who can roll the most perfect candle. The standard keeps rising. Every candle we send out has passed that bar.
03
The moulding
Molten beeswax poured into a mould and left to set. When the mould comes off — there is always a moment. Even now, after hundreds of candles, Bettina pauses. A thing that did not exist an hour ago is sitting there, perfect. That feeling has never faded. We hope it never does.
04
The material
We work with pure Australian beeswax sourced directly from beekeepers. No additives. No processing. No fragrance added. The wax arrives at our studio exactly as it left the hive. We filter it for clarity and shape it into candles. That is the entire manufacturing process.
05
The studio
Balgowlah, on Sydney's Northern Beaches. A space that smells faintly of honey on warm days — the natural scent of beeswax warming in the air. Chemical-free by design, not by policy. The wax demands it, and Bettina's commitment to chemical-free living makes it a natural consequence of the work.
06
Come and see
We open the studio on Saturdays. You can sit at the same bench, work with the same wax, and leave with candles you made yourself. Our workshops are not a class — they are an invitation into the process we love. Most people who come once come back. Some bring their friends.
From the studio · Balgowlah NSW

"Every candle that leaves our studio has been touched by human hands at every stage. There is no machine that does what Bettina does. That is not a claim we make lightly — it is simply the truth of how we work."

The candle that
needs nothing
added to it.

Beeswax is the only commercially available candle wax that arrives in a form ready to burn without chemical intervention. No hydrogenation. No bleaching. No deodorising. No fragrance to make it acceptable. One substance, unaltered. We filter it. We shape it. We wick it. That is all that stands between the hive and your home.

"Pure means one substance, unaltered, unprocessed. By that definition, beeswax is the only pure candle wax that exists — and has been for five thousand years."

The Ritual

How you burn it
matters as much
as what you burn.

Before electric light, lighting a candle was an act of intention. We believe those moments are to savour. Four rituals for four moments in a day that deserve more than a switch on the wall.

Beeswax candle ritual — evening wind-down
A daily practice
"Lit with intention.
The perfect companion to presence."
01

The Evening Wind-Down

Light at a consistent time each evening. Let the warmth of beeswax signal the end of the day's pace. The candle burns 2–3 hours — precisely long enough to bookend an evening.

02

The Dinner Table

Beeswax creates a pool of intimacy no overhead light can replicate. The taper outlasts a long dinner and the conversation that follows.

03

The Bath

Water and candlelight have marked rituals of restoration for millennia. Light it before the water runs. Let the flame hold the space.

Ceremony & Celebration

Beeswax has been used in sacred ceremony across every human tradition. A birthday, a memorial, a new home. Give the moment the material it deserves.

"When you light a beeswax candle with intention, you are doing something human civilisation before you has done for thousands of years. The magic is in the continuity."
