"I recently received a gift package from Hive and Harmony and had to jump on here to share because it is honestly one of the most thoughtful and beautiful gifts I’ve ever received. You can really feel the care and intention in every detail. The beeswax candles are such high quality, smell wonderfully sweet and earthy, and make the whole experience feel truly special. I am absolutely obsessed with these products and highly recommend."

"I purchased some candles, excellent quality at a great price. Hive and Harmony started running candle making workshops, which I attended — it was great fun, and I got to take my candles home. Excellent service."

Burns Longest
Pure beeswax burns at half the rate of paraffin — giving you more hours of warm, clean light per dollar than any other candle wax.
Factory Free
Beeswax requires no hydrogenation, bleaching or deodorising. It comes from the hive already pure. We filter it. We shape it. That is all.
Made in Balgowlah
Every candle hand poured by Bettina in our Balgowlah studio — the same space where our Saturday workshops take place.

Candle Care

Four steps.
A lifetime of reward.

Follow these steps once and your candle will burn flat, clean and even for its entire life.

01
The First Burn
On your first burn, allow the melt pool to reach the full diameter of the candle — approximately .5 Hour. This creates a wax memory and prevents tunnelling on every subsequent burn.
02
Trim the Wick
Before each burn, trim the wick to 5mm. This maintains a clean steady flame, prevents mushrooming and ensures the beeswax burns slowly and evenly throughout its full burn life.
03
Burn in Sessions
Burn for 2–4 hours at a time. The natural honey warmth of the beeswax deepens as the pool widens. Stop before the wax falls within 10mm of the base.
04
Minimal Smoking
Pure beeswax burns with minimal smoking when the wick is correctly trimmed — far cleaner than paraffin or soy. Avoid burning in draughts and always use a candle snuffer rather than blowing out the flame.
Questions Worth Answering

Every concern a careful
buyer should ask.

Won’t a $35.00 candle just burn away quickly?
Beeswax is the slowest burning wax — at roughly half the rate of paraffin and approximately 30% slower than soy. The Hive & Harmony range averages 96¢ per burn hour. Compared to an industry average of $2.06 per burn hour, most luxury candle suppliers are hoping you don't divide the price by the burn time they publish.
Why is there no fragrance?
Beeswax carries an inherent, faint honeyed warmth from the hive. We add no fragrance because beeswax does not need it — and because synthetic fragrance compounds, including phthalates, are associated with endocrine disruption. Pure beeswax is suitable for people who cannot tolerate scented products, and for homes with young children and pets.
Is it safe around children and pets?
Pure beeswax with no added fragrance is among the safest candle options available. Our 100% unbleached cotton braided wicks contain zero metal core. No synthetic compounds. Many customers specifically choose our candles because a family member has asthma or chemical sensitivities. As with any open flame, do not leave candles unattended.
My last expensive candle tunnelled. Will this?
Tunnelling happens when the first burn is too short. On your first burn, allow the melt pool to reach the full diameter of the candle — approximately .5 Hour. Do this once and it will burn flat and even for its entire life. We include a care card with every order.
Is this actually made in Australia?
Yes. Every candle is hand poured in small batches in our Balgowlah studio on Sydney's Northern Beaches. The beeswax is sourced from Australian apiaries in the NSW Central Tablelands. No candles are imported pre-made or white-labelled from overseas.
Is it cruel to harvest beeswax?
Beeswax is naturally produced in a healthy, well-managed hive. Bees produce far more wax than they need. Ethical beekeepers only harvest the honeycomb caps and surplus, leaving the colony with everything it needs to live and reproduce. Our beeswax comes from conscious apiaries in the NSW Central Tablelands where bees are treated gently with minimum stress.

The only wax that needs
nothing done to it.

Every other candle wax — soy, paraffin, coconut, rapeseed — requires chemical processing before it can become a candle. Beeswax requires none of it.

The Female Bee's Life's Work

Many lifetimes of labour
in every flame.

A female honeybee produces approximately 0.065g of wax in her entire lifetime. The pure beeswax in each Sacred candle represents the combined lifetime work of thousands of female bees — each one freely given, in service of the hive.
